Challenge for Hope by Michelle

Bright Spots Adaptive Cycling Adventure keeps on riding!

I have been cycling on a recumbent bike for 9 years! And living with MS for 43 years! Always an avid exerciser with multiple sclerosis, this outdoor fitness habit has given me physical strength and endurance, spiritual growth, and stress management! My MS symptoms have improved.

For the past four years, I am humbled that MS Bright Spots of Hope has enabled others to share this experience. Partnering with an adaptive fitness group here in St. Louis called DASA, nine others with MS are able to try adaptive cycles and attend fitness training classes from May to September. Then those individuals and their support partners travel to Colorado Springs in mid-September to ride for three days. Hosted by Angletech, an incredible bike shop that provides the specialized cycles and volunteers to help the group explore scenic trails, connect with nature and the mountains, and create unforgettable memories. The social connections during the trip have led to lasting friendships and support for the MS community. And In fact, at least eight individuals who have participated in the past have purchased their own cycles and continue to ride!

The meals, hotel, and custom bike jersey during the cycling adventure are provided by MS Bright Spots with a minimum donation from the individual attending and their support partner. The financial impact of MS for many individuals would make this trip impossible without our organizational support.

For the first time this year, I am asking for your help in making this adventure possible for those with MS!
